Puddle Fun!

Our neighbors were watering their grass tonight and the sprinkler left a puddle behind on the sidewalk. Justin had so much fun playing and splashing and running through the water!

The Waiting Is the Hardest Part...

I really cannot believe we have been waiting 1 year for our referral (as of yesterday)! And that is only "paper ready" or officially waiting. We sent in out initial application in September of 2007! The wait times for healthy girls were at about 10-11 months when we applied. And they remained about that until a few months ago when the wait times seemed to jump to 12-13 months. It figures....

But, I know my precious little girl is out there somewhere. A world apart and being loved and cared for by her foster family. I just cannot wait to see her face. The waiting is hard, but definitely doable. There are good days and there are bad days. This week has been really tough for me. I really thought that I would have a referral by now, and by Mother's Day, and by my birthday on the 21st. But it doesn't look like we will hear anything in May at all.

Hurry up! Ring phone, ring!

Communion Practice

Brian had practice for his First Holy Communion tonight. They practiced where they would sit and stand and also receiving communion (un-blessed). Brian did not like the taste of the Eucharist and his cousin Matt offered to eat it for him! Can you just see the priest's face when Brian puts his hand out, says Amen, and then hands it off to his cousin! We all had a good laugh about this! I hope it all goes smoothly on Sunday!

Bless this House

It was so kind of Justin to bless out house with "holy" water today! He got it straight from the royal throne and used a toilet cleaning brush to disperse the water all over the bathroom and dining room! Now I just need five bottles of disinfectant to make sure no one gets some sort of plague!

(sorry no pictures, I had to clean up before all of the kids in the house spread the water!)

Justin's Two Year Check-Up

Justin was so good at his check-up, well that is until the doctor gave him a shot! He tried so hard to be brave, but the boo-boo lip finally gave way to tears. Luckily the lollipop at check-out made the tears disappear!

He was 25 lbs 6 oz and 34.5 inches tall! He finally made it from 5% in weight to 20%, and his height is still at about 40%! Go Justin go!

His doctor does want him to be evaluated for speech, but doesn't think that there really is a problem. I agree that we should be safe, and if in a few months we don't need it, then great. But if he is still behind in six months, then we won't be sorry for the time we missed! His speech is improving, but not where it should be for his age. And I guess I worry a bit more because Brian and Sean were such early talkers. They had first words at 10 months and by age 2 were telling stories! I know Justin is his own kid, and don't want to compare the boys. I just want to do what is best for each of them!

Happy Second Birthday Justin!!!

I cannot believe that my baby boy is two!!! He has grown so much and is such a fun kid. Justin is so laid back - he just goes with the flow and rarely complains about anything. Which is great because our lives are so busy with the older boys' school, sports and friends!

He climbs like a monkey and loves to jump just as much. His whole body is one big bruise from all of his daring adventures! He loves to be outside and to push his lawnmower! He can ride a 3-wheeled scooter and loves his tricycle too. Justin loves to swing a golf club and baseball bats too.

Justin still has a huge sweet tooth! But also loves his fruit! His appetite is getting better by the day, but still has busy days when he just doesn't want to take the time to eat much. Justin's speech is improving slowly, but still not speaking much at all. Although he understands everything that is said to him and can follow verbal commands. I think he is just a quiet kid with not much to say!

Some days I look at him and just cannot believe that he is mine. It was such a long road to get him hear, but I never lost hope! The pain of infertility and loss will always be with me, but the smile on my boys' faces certainly makes it a little easier to deal with. ! Definitely well worth the wait!

Beef 'n Beer

We had a beef 'n beer fundraiser for the adoption today. And you know all the paper products and balloons were PINK! It was so nice to go to the party store and look at PINK decorations! We had a pretty good turn out and did manage to make some money for the adoption!

Thanks to all those that attended and contributed to the success!

Pre-K Smarts

Me - Sean, What did you learn in school today?

Sean - Nothing!

Me - Sean, you had to have learned something today.

Sean - Nope, Ms. M, doesn't teach me anything that I don't already know!

Well, there you have it. I guess I should start getting some college applications! ha, ha, ha!
