Take Me Out to the Ballgame!

What a great night for a baseball game!!! Brian got to pitch and got a few good hits also! Can't ask for better than that! As usual, Sean and Justin found other ways to entertain themselves than to watch the game!

Flag Football Game

Brian's team has not had the best season this year, but it never kept Brian from playing hard! That is one thing about Brian, when he is playing sports he always gives 110%, which is good because he plays hard. But it also has a down side, because he gets so upset when he doesn't do well. He is so hard on himself and as a parent that is so hard to watch. I know it part of what drives him to be a good athlete, but when he drops a pass, or makes a bad throw I think it hurts me just a little bit more than it hurts him. I guess that is just part of being a parent!

Justin's Party

We finally found some free time around sports and activities and Communions to have Justin's party. And poor kid, he got the typical party for a 3rd child. We called people that morning and threw together burgers and dogs and beer! I didn't have fancy invitations or plan the party months in advance....but you know what, Justin had no idea. His friends were there and he got cake, so in his book things were just dandy!

I try really hard to do for Sean and Justin what I did for Brian, but the real truth is that it is sometimes just impossible to do. And I have learned that fair doesn't always mean same. Sometimes being a parent means doing the best you can with what you have. Justin had a great party and loved his mom-made cake decorated with his favorite candy!!!!

Tubby In a Hurry!

They boys were so dirty from being at the ball field. We have orange dirt all over the field - including a huge pile of it for field maintenance. Justin was so dirty and so excited about getting a bath that he jumped right in without waiting for me to take his clothes off!!!! He thought it was so funny! It wasn't long before Sean joined him, but he did take his clothes off first!

Getting So Close!!!

I found out today that a family I met through our adoption agency's web forum got their referral for a healthy little girl today. Her home study date is about three weeks before mine! We are probably weeks and not months away from seeing her face! I have a new sense of optimism and hope! I know my time is coming soon - just wish it was a bit sooner!

1 Year, 1 Week, and 1 Day.....

I know I just did a post about waiting over a year for our referral. And how I never expected to wait this long. Well, I looked at my ticker today, and it said 1 Year, 1 Week, and 1 Day waiting for referral. I just thought that was neat that all the number values were 1!

I am doing a bit better now. I think it was the few days surrounding the one year anniversary that did me in. I am getting more excited than sad - so things are looking up!

Lego Madness

Anyone else completely sick of those fun building bricks that cost a fortune?

Let, me first start by saying that I really do like them, and so do my boys. I just cannot stand how fragile they are and how easily crucial pieces are lost! Makes my head spin just thinking about it! I spend hours with the boys building these elaborate police stations and rescue stations.

Then, all it takes is one stray ball or one impatient kid, and the whole thing collapses! It makes me want to cry. They try so hard to be careful but they all end up breaking something at one time or another. Sometimes they are trying to replace a piece and push a little to hard!!!

I am now in the process of sorting through the rubble to find the pieces that go with each set. I have gallon size zip bags and the instruction books. It is a tedious process, but will be well worth it in the end. I have to now hide the bags from them when I complete a set because I found them rooting through the bags for parts to build one of their creations.

No, I am not a mean Mom that is stifling their creativity! They have a huge bin of blocks, that did not come from an $80 set, to build with! They are just too lazy to sort through the bin to find what they want and would rather destroy all my hard work!

And yes, I do like order and thrive on it! Thank you very much!

Donuts (again)

Hmmmm. I seem to have a lot of pictures of Justin eating donuts. I guess it is because it is one of the few times that he keeps still for longer than two minutes! And he is a good subject, other times he gets mad and swats at the camera!!!
