Cereal and a Spoon

Sean was enjoying a big bowl of Fruit Loops this morning. I had poured the cereal and the milk and he picked out the spoon by himself. After all of the cereal was gone, he was licking the milk out of the bowl like a dog. I told him to use his spoon if he wanted to drink the milk. He said, "Okay." I was in the kitchen cleaning up and packing snacks for the beach. Sean says, "Mom, I can't do it with the spoon." I tell him, "Hold the spoon straight and take your time so the milk stays on the spoon." He says, "Okay, but I can't do it." I tell him, "Keep trying." I go about what I was doing and he doesn't say another word, so I assume that he got the hang of it.

That is until he brings me his empty bowl. My kid was eating cereal with a slotted serving spoon. No wonder he couldn't get any milk with his spoon! Only Sean! I guess he licked the milk when I wasn't looking because there is no way he emptied the bowl with the spoon he had.

I was laughing so hard when I looked at the spoon that I had to repeat the story to my Mom twice before she understood me. When she finally got what I was saying and I held up the spoon, she laughed so unexpectedly that she spit coffee across the room. Then we both began to laugh even more.

However, we were not laughing when we tried to get the coffee out of the rug, good thing the new furniture was covered with blankets. We thought we were protecting it from the dog and kids, who could have guessed it would need protection from a coffee spitting Grandmom!
